Persons with Disabilities

The Americans with Disabilities Act stipulates businesses and municipalities in the United States must adhere to codes which allow access for persons with physical disabilities. Below is some general information that may be helpful to persons attending the Conference who may have physical disabilities or will be traveling with disabled persons. If you have specific questions, please feel free to contact us at wmc2016@worldmethodistcouncil.org.

The Venue: Hilton Americas – Houston

When you make your reservation at the Hilton Americas – Houston, be sure to ask for a wheelchair accessible room. They should be able to accommodate you.

The Hilton Americas – Houston conference center has elevators on each side of the building and has wheelchair accessible restrooms on each floor.

Scooters & Wheelchair Rentals

Go to www.SunMobilityHouston.com to make your reservation online and arrange delivery to the Hilton Americas – Houston (1600 Lamar St). Scooters & Wheelchair Rentals are not available at the hotel.

SuperShuttle airport shuttle service

Currently, shuttle service from the airport to the hotel and back will need to be arranged with SuperShuttle.com. Public Transportation in Downtown Houston

The Greenlink bus is a free bus service that runs in the downtown area and connects with other public transport. Their website claims all buses are ADA compliant, however it is unclear whether they have wheelchair lifts.

Taxis

Many taxis are wheelchair compliant and can be booked through Yellow Cab (www.yellowcabhouston.com or 713-236-1111). The hotel concierge may also be of assistance with booking taxis or cars to get around town.
